Funding enables SME to better-service the increasingly growing demand of its clients and creates 4 more jobs in the process.
Christopher, the entrepreneur behind this young business, has established a close working relationship with the local Pick n Pay, which supplies STYD with freshly baked bread at a discounted rate. STYD also supplies fresh bread and fruit to the Lunch Box Fund, a non-profit organisation that provides daily meals to disadvantaged students in township-based schools.
Since opening in July 2010, STYD has rapidly grown its customer base, even being showcased on CNN’s ‘Inside Africa’ show. But Christopher still had to travel on foot and via taxi, thus limiting the amount of bread he was able to sell. Edge Growth identified this as a key business constraint, and partnered with STYD to provide funding for the purchase of a new vehicle.
Ultimately, Christopher envisions STYD delivering bread not only to other streets and other townships, but to a broader client base across South Africa.
Cabs for Women receives the capital it needs to grow the fleet and create employment for previously disadvantaged women.
Funding returns SME to positive growth trajectory, allowing her to meet the demand of 200 clients and save existing jobs.
Vehicle funding provides a consistency, reliability, and flexibility to operations, creating greater potential for future revenue growth.
