  • Ownership (25 points): 12.5% BBBEE Ownership transaction executed on the 29th September 2010 with Agri Sense Consultancy Investments and 12.5% BBBEE Ownership transaction executed with VUWA.

Synergies resulting from the Edge Growth, Agri-Sense Consultancy and VUWA Investments partnership will ensure that businesses and entrepreneurs in sub-Saharan Africa substantially realize their return on investment in Enterprise Development (ED).

Agri-Sense was approached by Edge Growth due to the many synergies that would result from a partnership with the company. Agri-Sense shares Edge Growth’s passion for poverty alleviation and in line with this shared vision have dedicated one of their directors, Calvin Fambisayi, to work full time as an executive director within Edge Growth. Calvin Fambisayi has poured himself into transformation through building extensive expertise in the field of ED and Preferential Procurement as well as developing and building SMEs. Calvin’s knowledge in this space has made him an asset to Edge Growth’s ED Strategy division. In addition, Agri-Sense was brought on board to assist in the development of an agricultural ED business, a space where we envision significant opportunities to provide income, jobs and food sources for sub-Saharan Africa.

VUWA Investments is Edge Growth’s other BEE partner and play in the private equity space. VUWA, represented by Gil Mahlati, add value to the fund management and deal sourcing side of our business, bringing high potential SMEs, that do not meet their investment criteria, to our ED Funds. VUWA’s extensive networks are a key enabler for ED capital raising, which is critical to Edge Growth being able to scale and unlock real impact in the ED space. Synergies also exist in that VUWA boasts a number of companies in their existing investment portfolio that could benefit from the Edge Growth incubator (Growth Accelerator).
